J-DAY 2024
Friday, April 12 | 9:15 a.m.-3:00 p.m. | University of Maryland
J-Day 2024 was a huge success! The event was held April12 on the campus of the University of Maryland, and we hosted about 500 students from high school newspaper, yearbook and broadcasting courses.
Our keynote speaker was Washington Post humor columnist Alexandra Petri. We also hosted a series of 45-minute sessions, led by professional journalists and UMD College of Journalism faculty on a wide array of topics. Other popular guest speakers included Baltimore Banner reporters Pamela Wood and Krishna Sharma, and Hidden Brain podcast producer Tara Boyle. We also offer guided tours of the Merrill College of Journalism facility and UMTV Studios, the university's student-powered broadcast news organization. Our thanks again to the Merrill students who volunteered to guide tours. Special thanks go out to the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, without whose partnership and support, J-Day would not be possible. Check in with us in the months to come for more information about J-Day 2025! |
