ADVISERS' PEP TALK
SUNDAY, OCT 11 | 5PM
The host will be Valerie Kibler, a journalism teacher and publication adviser at Harrisonburg High School in Virginia for 25 years. She teaches Journalism in the Digital age for the online Virtual High School and advises Newsstreak, Harrisonburg’s award-winning student newspaper. She was recognized as the 2010 National High School Teacher of the Year.
Valerie will briefly discuss some of the helpful resources available to yearbook and newspaper advisers, including curriculum, mentoring and professional certification, all available through the Journalism Education Association. Most of the session will be devoted to questions and issues raised by participants.
After the presentation, advisers will have an opportunity to share their suggestions and raise their questions and concerns with each other, including how to keep your publications running well even if your school is doing remote learning.
Pre-register by sending your name, adviser role and school affiliation to [email protected]. You will receive the Zoom log-on a few days in advance of the Adviser Pep Talk.
Additional Adviser Pep Talks sponsored by MDCSPA will take place this fall.
