We’ve reached capacity (as of 3/12) for our 2024 J-Day conference on Friday, April 12. Registration is now closed. However, you are welcome to add your school to our waiting list by contacting event registrar Brian Shane at BWShane@worcesterk12.org.
The conference is intended for Maryland and D.C. high school newspaper, yearbook and broadcasting students and advisers. Registration is only $10 per student and $20 for advisers. (If costs prevent student participation, please contact Brian Shane at BWShane@worcesterk12.org to discuss other arrangements.) Payments can be made via credit on the registration site or via check, payable to MDCSPA and mailed in advance of the conference. The conference will include an opening address by Washington Post op-ed columnist Alexandra Petri and a series of 45-minute sessions led by professional journalists and College of Journalism faculty on a wide array of topics including:

Nearly 500 high school journalists and their publication advisers from across Maryland and the District of Columbia participated in the J-Day Conference for a full day of learning and networking.

- More than two dozen topical sessions led by experienced professionals on reporting, videography, photography, publication design, press law, ethics and social media
- Student-guided tours of the Merrill College of Journalism and the Capital News Service
- An advisers networking luncheon
